Easy to operate

The IC-40S offers simple radio communication. All functions are easily accessible with large functions keys. Function keys are well spaced and designed for single push action-- push momentarily for the primary function, push for 1 sec. for the secondary function.

All 40 UHF C.R.S. channels are available, including repeater channels. In addition, up to 20 private channels are available for programming of extra commercial channels, etc., within the 450 to 480 MHz range. Programming is achieved via an lBM" compatible PC using with the optional EX-2118 FIELD PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE and OPC-478 CLONING CABLE.

User programmable CTCSS signaling

The most popular basic signaling system, CTCSS, is employed. This system allows you to quietly wait for signals from specified stations, even on very busy channels. 51 CTCSS frequencies are available. In addition, a pocket beep function is available which audibly alerts you to signals received from specified stations.

A rugged one-piece die-cast frame, polycarbonate front panel and durable screw-type antenna connector provide dependable operation. And, dust-proof construction is employed-allowing operation in areas demanding high quality handhelds, such as farms, mining operations, etc.

High receiver sensitivity and a full 5 W transmitter power

A high sensitivity receiver and a full 5 W of output power provide longer-distance communications. Reliable contact with colleagues and friends at all times.

Variety of scanning functions

Open, Group and Priority scans are available to search for signals. A "Tag" scan system makes it easy to select and delete channels to be scanned.
