Bruny Island Historical Society Annual Report 2010 / 2011

We had plenty of projects to keep us occupied, so the year passed even more quickly!

The Promaker file data-base kept volunteers working at a steady pace recording relevant information in the subject folders. Meanwhile the Mosaic cataloguing of the History Collection is about to get into full swing following several volunteer training workshops mid-year and the purchase of the software, now installed at the History Room.

The Society contributed research and funding for the construction of headstones on unmarked graves in St Peters Cemetery, Barnes Bay, in November 2010 (see Burials Folder for the details).

Then it was D day, 4th December 2010.  Over one hundred people arrived at Cheverton homestead, Great Bay, for the Davis Family Reunion, many bearing photographs and most with extended family genealogy, to add to the Family Tree section of the Bruny Island History Collection.  The Davis family has been represented on Bruny Island since 1826, when William and Jane Davis settled at Trumpeter Bay.
