Walk will commence at St. Andrews Market where we can spend an hour or so browsing and having morning tea before commencing with a short walk along the Heritage Trail to the old Queenstown Cemetery, then along rural roads and tracks to the northern end of One Tree Hill Reserve. About half the distance is steadily uphill. An alternative section of the return trip can be taken which will involve a steep uphill-downhill section.
Note 8.45 a.m. start at Kew Library.

Appreciate the architecture of Queenscliff, or enjoy a cuppa, before boarding the 2.45 pm train for the return journey to Drysdale. $12 train fare is required ($10 concession). Note walk is graded M only because of the distance. The level of walking is actually easy.

This circuit walk follows tracks in the Lysterfield Park, starting and finishing at the Mahogany Parking Area. Total climbing of 300 metres through rolling hills and pleasant bushland. Kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas are frequently seen as well as many varieties of bird. This was originally Bunurong land and today the Wurundjeri community is involved in planning and management.

This walk visits the location of the first official gold discovery in Victoria at Andersons Creek in 1851, as well as many of the underground mines, surface diggings and alluvial activities. It links together a number of sections of the Warrandyte State Park into a single circuit, following footpaths, gravel access tracks and the occasional sealed suburban road.

Starting and ending at Mortimer picnic ground, the walk is through thick forest with stringybark and banksia, damp gullies with tree ferns, past deep tannin coloured dams (perhaps with bunyips) and exposed granite outcrops. There are some steep ups and downs, but we will do it slowly, so suited for those easy medium walkers who want to stretch themselves, but not necessarily at the pace of the regular medium walkers.

This winter ascent route of Mt Feathertop will be a first for the Club. We will go via Mt Beauty driving up a 4wd track to about 1000m+, than climbing the North Razorback Ridge. Camping location will depend on snow conditions and may not be near a hut. Snow Shoes and a pole with basket are a must as is a four seasons tent and suitable clothes.

Fri: Morning bus to Loch Ard Gorge and easy walk. 3.35 p.m. bus to Warrnambool and 5.14 p.m. train to Southern Cross arriving at 8.39p.m. Seniors travel voucher can be used. Two nights accommodation in Port Campbell at either caravan park or youth hostel.

Historical interest walk that includes the settlement at Fryertown, in the Fryer Ranges south of Chewton, the ghost town of Spring Gully and a number of gold mining relics in the surrounding hills. The walk is quite long, so unfortunately we won’t be able to linger at each interesting site. The walk includes The Monk, the highest point in the area, and water races. There is a short section of off-track. There are many criss-crossing tracks, most not marked on maps, so we need to pay careful attention to our route. We also need to watch for mine shafts.
Note early start 7.15am.

The Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne was established in 1970 for the purpose of research and conservation of Australian native plants. The Gardens first opened to the public in 1989. The walk goes through heathy woodland and wetlands, the type of vegetation that once covered much of Westernport and Port Phillip Bay. We will then visit the Australian Garden. and there is a charge for admission. The Australian Garden Stage 2 is due to open in early 2012. We expect there to be a great show of wildflowers in the Spring.

Tarra-Bulga National Park in South Gippsland, is well known for its giant Mountain Ash trees, beautiful fern gullies and ancient myrtle beeches. The park covers 2015 ha of some of the best examples of original cool temperate rainforests of the Strzelecki Ranges; the perfect backdrop for a number of walks, including the Grand Strzelecki Track. Four nights’ accommodation in rustic cabins at Fernholme Caravan Park - approximate cost $120. Walking tracks lead to old saw mill sites and other relics in the Mt Worth State Park, on the western rim of the Strzelecki Ranges, which we will explore on our homeward bound journey.
