The Walls of Jerusalem NP is adjacent - to the east - of the popular Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair NP. It consists of 5 main peaks dissected by open grassy valleys with lakes and tarns surrounded by wildflowers and groves of pencil pine. The park itself is quite small but it is intended that several days will be spent exploring the park and surounding area.

A hard walk featuring all southern Tasmania and the wilderness area has to offer.

Join Ray Thomas (of the Regent Honeyeater Project) and volunteers in placing 240 new nest boxes for Squirrel Gliders and Phascogales in the Lurg Hills. There will be some on-the-job training about how to do the task safely, and with optimal results for the animals. Involves off track walking, and an opportunity to practice navigation skills because we need to record the exact locations of the nest boxes for subsequent next box checking. (GPS would be useful.) Need to be willing to carry ladders throught the bush and climb them up trees.
Very early start (6.15am) to get to Benalla by 9am on Saturday morning. We will stay at the Benalla Caravan Park on Saturday night. Come for one day or the weekend. Walk will commence at St. Andrews Market where we can spend an hour or so browsing and have morning tea before commencing with a short walk along the Heritage Trail to the old Queenstown Cemetery, then along rural roads and tracks to the northern end of One Tree Hill Reserve. About half the distance is steadily uphill. An alternative return route can be taken which will involve a steep uphill-downhill section. NOTE 8.45 a.m. start at Kew Library.

This walk starts at Donellys Weir near Healesville and immediately commences the climb to Mt St Leonard; 700 meters over 8km so walkers would need a reasonable level of fitness. All on good fire track except for the last 2km which narrows to a steep foot track. A great walk close to Melbourne. Return via the same route.

From Ashburton Station we’ll ride along the Anniversary Trail to Alamein, then via Markham Reserve to Warrigal Rd. We’ll then ride along upper Gardiners Creek to Blackburn Lake, where we’ll have a picnic lunch. From there we’ll use quiet streets to reach the Koonung Creek/Eastern Freeway Trail and ride west to the path’s end. Finally we’ll head back to the Anniversary Trail via Hayes Paddock and Stradbroke Park, stopping for afternoon tea at Whitehorse Rd, and finish back at Ashburton Station. Meet at 10.30 am at Ashburton Station, west side car park. Cars can be left here.

We begin with the 9km Treefern Walk through a variety of forest including teatree, stringybark and banksia. All on track, total climbing 190m. After a late lunch we will drive a further 5km and complete a 4km circuit through swampy heathland and buttongrass. Watch out for bunyips in the waterholes!

The walk will commence in Rippleside Park North Geelong and follow the foreshore walking trail through Eastern Beach to Limeburners Point. We will also visit the adjacent Botanical Gardens before returning along the same trail to the start. The Bay Walk Bollards is a major public artwork consisting of 106 hand-shaped and painted wooden sculptures, constructed from old pier pylons. Meet at Victoria Park Kew at 8.45 a.m.

Unfortunately I had to cancel Howmans Gap as we didn’t have enough people but I managed to book Baldwin Spencer Lodge at the Prom. There is never any difficulty geting people for this but priority will be given to those who had paid for Howmans. I will make a waiting list and camping is available if you don’t get a bed in the lodge. There are so many walks around Tidal River and in the rest of the Prom that we can cater for all requirements. We will have a shared meal on Saturday. Cost $50 per head for lodge. Campers – there is a fee per site and I’ll collect a small contribution for shared items. Meet Friday after 4pm at the Lodge, Tidal River.

Starting from the carpark at the end of Punchbowl road, a wide and well graded track follows the clifftop eastward to Kilkunda. Views across farmland and beach from Cape Woolami in the west to Cape Patterson in the east. Lunch at Killies Pub.

Hurstbridge is the end of the train line but we shall be travelling by car as trains are few and far between. The town is of historical interest, with a bridge designed by Monash. Panton Hills is south of St. Andrews where we patronise the market about once a year. There are two reserves belonging to Parks Victoria to be explored.

The walk follows part of the great Dividing trail (the dry Diggings track section) through the dry open woodlands of the Upper Lodden state forest and the Tarilta Creek through the relatively lush Mt Franklin Gorge (really more a narrow rocky valley than a gorge). There is no marked track along the gorge (the walk here is generally on green grassy flats) and some creek crossings will be required. There is a short off track section.

The walk is in the Yarra Ranges National Park in the upper region of the Yarra River and incorporates some of a little known goldfield including 2 tunnels that were excavated to divert the river. The vegetation is varied with some delightful forest and abundant wildflowers late winter and early spring. The walk is short but there are some steep sections which can be slippery when wet so if you use poles bring them. Total climbing 350 m.
