The Big Walk means we follow a track from the bottom to the top. In some sections we hit the sealed road for very small
sections. Camp at Lake Catani and hopefully do a good side-trip somewhere around there. Snow shoes may not be required as the altitude is not too high, and it’s later in the season, but sections could be slippery and muddy, and
weather conditions can still be extreme. Be prepared for this.

outcrops past Raglan Falls up Cave Hill to sub-alpine forest. The descent is through a gorgeous gully. Distance 17km (M 7hrs) or 21km (MH 8.5hrs), depending on whether we include the Mt Buangor summit (steep climb/descent; 4km return).

An exploratory trip up the Omeo Highway by vehicle then to the Mt. Wills turn off and the Alpine Walking Track.
Hopefully stay at the Mt. Wills hut site, dependent on weather conditions. Then continue up the Omeo Highway past
Mitta Mitta to find the track to the Hollow Hut Site about 5 kilometres north east of Michell Hut on Mt. Bogong. If
successful then possibly a climb to Mt. Bogong. All dependent on weather and road conditions.

and grades to suit everyone. Visit the World Heritage area at Mungo NP. Choose your National Park and meet up with
others or do the whole trip.

We’ll head downstream along Southbank, cross to Docklands then along Footscray Road to the Maribyrnong River. Then
it’s upstream to Brimbank Park and on to the Keilor Pub where we’ll have lunch. We’ll then ride back around the top of
Brimbank Park and east along the Ring Road path to Melrose Drive, then on-road to the Moonee Ponds Creek Path to
return to Southbank. There are a few steepish hills but none too long.

A circuit walk starting and finishing where O’Briens Road meets Whiskey Creek Tk. This Whiskey Creek circuit is north
of the one I led in July, but includes the Kenworthy Tk (going down it this time—ie very steep descent). Then walk north
along the water race. Steep climb at Kangaroo TK. Then an undulating walk. Typical Lerderderg country.

Starting at the south boundary of Little Forest this walk follows 4WD tracks for about half its distance and then tracks
along the bank of the east branch of the Moorabool River back to complete a circuit. Some height attained in the first half
presenting views over the Moorabool river and surrounding countryside. Former gold mining area with old mine workings
and mullock heaps to be seen along the way. A small creek crosses the track near the start of the walk that might require
an ankle deep crossing.

Public transport walk – Meet on Platform 3 at Parliament Station at 9.10 am to catch the 9.23 am Werribee train to

We will walk along the Altona foreshore and Kororoit Creek to the Jawbone Conservation Reserve and then onto Point
Gellibrand, where there is some interesing history and geology. Return by train from Williamstown to the city.
Note – Public transport walk so willl not meet at Victoria Par and you will lneed to purchase Zone 1 daily of Seniors
Daily.

Starting at King Hut this walk spans 3 days/2 nights and takes in three apline peaks; Mt Koonika, Mt Speculation and Mt
Cobbler. Camps will be at Mt Speculation summit (weather permitting) and Lake Cobbler. Option of staying a third night
at the start point at King Hut campground allowing for a leisurely trip home on Cup Day.
Track notes suggest some scrambling and a small amount of pack-hauling may be required to make Mt Koonika summit.

a wide water race and other mining activities of the past. Afternoon tea or a beer will be enjoyed at an original Aussie
Pub ‘The Reefton’ in McMahons Creek.

This walk has been classified as a hard walk due to the distance travelled and some steep sections en route. Part of the
walk will be along old timber tram tracks logging companies used to take timber to the sawmills located in the bush near
Warburton and Powelltown. Evidence of the logging days are seen as we pass old mill sites. We will walk through
forests of myrtle beech and mountain ash.

Postponed in March, Tarra-Bulga National Park, nestled in the Strzelecki Ranges, was spared the ravages of recent
bushfires and is home to mountain ash, messmate, blackwood, beautiful fern gullies, ancient myrtle beeches and cool
temperate rainforests; the perfect backdrop for a number of walks, ranging from an easy 720 m Fern Gully Nature Walk,
to a full day’s walk on Sunday. Rustic cabins at Fernholme, Tarra Valley Tourist Park have been booked, approximate
cost $60; alternatively, camping facilities available. A picturesque walk in the Mt Worth State Park, on the western rim of
the Strzelecki Ranges, on our homeward journey on Monday will complete our long weekend.

The walk will start at the picnic ground down the hill from the Blackwood Caravan Park. There is a small charge to enter
the reserve. From the picnic ground we walk via Shaws Lake to golden Point Road and then on Tunnel Road Track to
the Lerderderg River. Return via Byers Back Track – an old water race. There a couple of steep hills to climb. Bring a
thermos and something to eat for afternoon tea at the Shaws Lake Picnic Ground.

nearby McKillops Bridge, Little River Gorge/Falls, Buchan Caves, Snowy River NP beckon. So much to see- so little time.
