MY YAMAHA XJ900

A masterpiece of motorcycling excellence!
Check out the The Yamaha XJ Owners Group  The last time I checked, the XJ Owners Group had disappeared but I have left the link in place in case it is ever restored or it prompts someone to let me know the new address.
Many thanks to Dale Wagner of DPW Productions for his assistance in producing the above picture. It's actually a digital camera shot of a 35mm print! At the time of posting this picture, I did not have a digital camera or access to a scanner.
I finally got around to taking a couple more photos - my newly acquired digital camera makes the photography part a lot easier!

This bike has an embarrassingly low number of Kms on it. I wondered about the validity of the odometer reading but a year or two ago I had to get the engine honed and new rings fitted because of excessive oil usage and the associated clouds of smoke. The smoke might be allright in a burnout competition, but detracts from your credability a lot at other times (Maxwell Smart types excepted of course). The new standard rings solved the oil/smoke problem and the fact that they had the absolute minimum ring-gap supports the low odometer reading.
I also had the bike off the road for a while because of a fuel leak which developed at the rear of the tank. I had two attempts to fix the leak, the second one after the tank had been welded and resprayed. It seems that fuel will leak from around the rivet heads attaching the cross-member at the rear of the tank. The addition of "Red White & Blue" epoxy tank sealer fixed the leak no further problems.
Some day, I might come across a belly fairing to replace the missing item. Surely it would go faster with the extra drag reduction! ;-)
